Teleradiology Second Opinion Consultations

The Global Center also provides second opinion consultations for field operations where the panel physicians in the clinics have queries on the first reading done by local radiologists, or when the radiologists in the field would like to consult for further evaluation of the images on cases before they finalize the interpretation. The Global Center has been using the IOM teleradiology application to provide this service since February 2017. 

The panel physician or the radiologist from field clinics in different countries can send their request through email or the real time chat group created by the Global Center. The teleradiology technical team will tag the case for a second opinion reading and queue it for the teleradiology monitoring radiologist reading. The monitoring radiologist reads the image and responds and discusses any further queries from the radiologist or panel physicians. The Center provided second opinion consultations to a total of 33 locations, as of November 2022.
